MIL-3410X
FastPort Ethernet Multiprotocol Micro Print Server
Network and share inkjets, lasers
or digital copiers
Perfect for SOHO environments
Easy to install
Support for Windows, UNIX, MAC
and NetWare
The FastPort 3400X Micro Print Server allows a printer or plotter to be used by TCP/IP,
Novell® NetWare®, EtherTalk, OS/2, and Windows® networks simultaneously. The 3400X
features a powerful parallel port that will support throughput of up to 140 Kbps per second,
and is available with either a thin-coax or UTP network uplink.
The FastPort 3400X models come with an advanced multiprotocol feature set that makes
them one of the easiest-to-use solutions in the market. Regardless of which protocol is
used, the 3400X Print Servers can be installed seamlessly. Using SMB (Server Message
Block) protocol over NetBIOS/NetBEUI, the units can be installed through the Network
Neighborhood of Windows 95/98/NT. In TCP/IP networks, the units can be configured
using the BOOTP, ARP, RARP and DHCP protocols. The 3400X FastPort Print Servers
support NetWare Directory Services for NetWare 4.x, allowing easy access to any printer
on the network. The 3400X series supports all popular Macintosh® OS versions and,
through the use of the MiLAN LaserWriter Utilities, units can be configured using the
standard LaserWriter printer driver.
SNMP managed networks can use FastManage™ (MiLAN’s Windows-based SNMP
manager) to find MiLAN print servers on the network.
For sophisticated management and installation, UNIX® environments can utilize either
MiLAN’s extensive host software package or the Line Printer Protocol (LPR/LPD). LPR
printing is also supported on Windows NT (natively) and Windows 95/98 (using MiLAN’s
LPR printing utility). In any of these configurations, no host software is required.
For configuration management, a choice of standard PCONSOLE or MiLAN’s Advanced
Configuration Tool (ACT) for NetWare are offered. The 3400X series can also be managed
via SNMP, which includes support for MIB-II, as well as serial and parallel MIBs.
The 3400X can be easily upgraded by printing a special job from any of the supported
MiLAN Technology
protocols. Each model also supports Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) and BOOTP
for firmware upgrades.
